Issue 3: Romance of Ruins

We want you to picture the statue of Venus De Milo. Cracked, armless, beautiful. Do you see a statue disgraced or now in its proper form? Can you find something romantic about something ruined? Our contributors for this issue are trying to answer that question. As always, out themes are left up to the interpretation of the writers and we were delighted to see the fascinating takes on this theme that our contributors went with. We want to give a big thank you to our cover artist Sian Williams as her work for this issue was better than we could ever have imagined and captured our feelings around this issue in such an incredible way. We are always dumbfounded by the work we receive from our contributing artists and this issue is no different. We want to thank all of them dearly and strongly encourage our readers to follow them on their social media accounts to keep up with their evolving talents.

All of the pieces from our contributing writers in this issue
are extremely dear to our hearts. We hope you enjoy them
as much as we do! The selection process is consistently the
toughest part of our jobs as editors. To the pieces we could
not include, we raise a glass, drink it all the way down and
pray we see them again in another publication. Our literary
fallen soldiers. A special thank you is due to our featured
writer, Eloise Rodger. A Trinity alumni and soon-to-bepublished novelist, Eloise is an inspiration and someone
we are honoured to have as a part of this issue. It won’t be
long before her poems have attached themselves to your
soul and you are carrying the verses around with you all
day. We eagerly anticipate her upcoming novel, DEATH’S
A BITCH.

Please enjoy the accompanying playlist as you read through the pieces. We are desperately excited to reopen submissions and start work on Issue 4. Stay tuned on our Instagram to keep up with Hearth as Issue 4’s cycle beings. Thank you dear readers, your support is the lifeblood of our little magazine. You are the fuel that keeps our fire burning.
